M.I.S.A.M. – Montemaggiore International Open-Air Sculpture Museum
An artistic journey between nature and sculpture

The sculpture atelier and M.I.S.A.M. are part of the Montemaggiore Arte Association, located in an area adjacent to Montemaggiore within the municipality of Montefiore Conca, in the province of Rimini, Italy.

This unique place is immersed in one of the most pristine and captivating natural and scenic landscapes of the Montefeltro region, offering a 360° panoramic view:
to the southwest, the mountains of the Tuscan-Romagnolo and Umbro-Marchigiano Apennines can be admired; to the northeast, the Adriatic Sea stretches from the bay of Pesaro to the Riviera dei Lidi Ravennati.

The surrounding hills host some of Italy’s most beautiful villages, such as Montegridolfo, Mondaino, Saludecio, Montescudo, San Leo, and Montefiore Conca itself—places well worth visiting.
Nearby lies San Marino, the world’s oldest Republic, while the renowned resorts of the Adriatic Riviera (Rimini, Riccione, Cattolica, Misano Adriatico) offer numerous tourist attractions.

A Unique Artistic and Natural Experience

The spacious and well-equipped art studio is a place where the study of sculpture intertwines with the surrounding nature, creating an intense and deeply rewarding educational experience. Here, quality teaching merges with daily practice, inviting participants to engage with the material through direct contact, observation, and creative gesture.

M.I.S.A.M. welcomes students and visitors of all ages into a living space where sculpture is not only observed but lived. It is possible to touch the materials, follow their transformations, watch artists at work, and encounter monumental works already installed alongside sculptures in progress and temporary exhibitions. The study of different materials thus becomes a sensory and creative journey, capable of involving both the viewer and the creator.

At the heart of the project is direct interaction with sculptor Umberto Corsucci, who for over twenty years has led M.I.S.A.M. alongside his staff. Sharing his artistic and human experiences offers a rare opportunity for growth, dialogue, and inspiration. A place where sculpture takes shape, but above all leaves a mark—in the work itself and in those who encounter it.

The History and Cultural Value of M.I.S.A.M.
In recent decades, open-air sculpture parks have grown in Italy, with private initiatives promoting the dialogue between art and landscape. M.I.S.A.M. carries forward this legacy and represents a rapidly expanding cultural and tourist model.

The project was born with the aim of enhancing the territory and local artisan traditions, opposing mass tourism and reclaiming a site previously compromised by a quarry.

Thanks to the work of Umberto Corsucci, the critical support of renowned national and international artists and sculptors, and the activity of the Montemaggiore Arte Association, the museum has organized workshops, artist residencies, exhibitions, and publications, alongside its permanent sculpture trail.

Since 2000, M.I.S.A.M. has welcomed Italian and international sculptors who create monumental site-specific works, experimenting with new expressive languages and sculptural techniques.

A Place for Experimentation and Education
The museum offers artists the opportunity to work directly on-site thanks to the workshops and the technical expertise of the staff, enabling linguistic and technical experimentation.

A key moment for young artists who, through the study of technique and dialogue with the material, gradually build their own path in sculpture.

Territorial Enhancement and Cultural Commitment

M.I.S.A.M. contributes to regenerating the landscape, transforming a previously compromised area into a prominent cultural and artistic hub in the Valle del Conca.

The initiative represents an example of smart private patronage and investment in art, offering the public an overview of contemporary trends and promoting local artisanal skills.
