MISAM & Atelier and Sculpture Retreat | Italy
In the heart of the municipality of Montefiore Conca, Rimini, Italy
Adjacent to the historic village of Montefiore Conca, nestled in the hills of Romagna and overlooking the Adriatic Sea, the MISAM atelier and museum of Umberto Corsucci represent a unique place for artistic research, training, and experimentation.
Here, art is not separate from the landscape but becomes an integral part of it: an experience that combines creation, silence, and contemplation.
The Setting
The location chosen by Umberto Corsucci is no accident. Montefiore Conca is one of the most picturesque medieval villages in the Romagna hinterland, a place where time seems to slow down and the gaze can finally open up. Perched on the hills of the Valconca, the village overlooks a vast and silent landscape stretching all the way to the Adriatic Sea, offering a rare sense of suspension and freedom.
Here, among stone alleys, ancient walls, and bright panoramas, history naturally dialogues with contemporary creativity. The Malatesta Fortress, the symbolic heart of the village, watches over a territory that invites contemplation, while the M.I.S.A.M. Park Museum, adjacent to the historic center, hosts artworks immersed in the landscape where nature and artistic form meet without boundaries.
An ideal place for creative work and artistic research: the silence, the distance from large urban centers, and the direct contact with the local material foster an authentic relationship with time, gesture, and thought. It is a space where art is not only exhibited but truly experienced.
The location also serves as a connection point between different worlds: cycling routes and hillside trails cross the Valconca and lead toward the sea and the beaches of the Riviera, while nearby are places of extraordinary beauty such as San Marino, the millenary Republic of Freedom; Urbino, cradle of the Renaissance and hometown of Raphael; Cattolica, a renowned seaside resort with a lively historic center; Faenza, famous for its International Museum of Ceramics; Pesaro, birthplace of Gioachino Rossini and an important cultural hub; Ravenna, famous for its extraordinary early Christian mosaics; Rimini, a city with ancient Roman traditions and the beating heart of the Adriatic; and Riccione, a vibrant tourist destination where history, art, and contemporary life merge.
By participating in our courses, you become part of a place that speaks to the soul, where the landscape becomes inspiration and silence turns into language. A moment not just to pass through, but to listen to, breathe, and carry with you.
Montemaggiore Arte – M.I.S.A.M.
The Montemaggiore Arte Cultural Association was founded with the aim of promoting contemporary sculpture, artistic education, and the dialogue between art and the local territory.
Through exhibitions, workshops, residencies, and courses, the association supports the dissemination of sculptural culture and offers a space for exchange among artists, students, and enthusiasts from international backgrounds.

The MISAM – International Museum of Open-Air Sculpture
The M.I.S.A.M. was conceived as an open space for connection rather than a museum in the traditional sense. Here, sculpture is not simply displayed; it inhabits the site, becoming part of a living balance between matter, gesture, environment, and nature. The works mark the landscape with subtlety, inviting those who encounter them to pause, listen, and perceive through a journey of modern art.
This is a place that celebrates spiritual creativity and is meant to be experienced both physically and spiritually, where direct engagement with the surrounding environment becomes part of the creative process. Nature is not a backdrop, but an active presence: it accompanies the artistic work, reshapes its perception, and expands its meaning.
Umberto Corsucci’s atelier is a space of practice and transformation, where sculpture is born from the meeting of experience, research, and intuition. Here, technique and freedom, tradition and experimentation coexist within a process that does not impose forms but allows them to emerge. The courses and workshops—dedicated to marble, stone, wood, terracotta, ceramics, and bronze—are conceived as individual experiences, open both to those approaching sculpture for the first time and to those wishing to deepen their artistic language.
Within this context, lived spiritually and in deep dialogue with the culture of the place, each participant is guided to rediscover the artist within themselves through a slow, mindful, and authentic practice. This is not merely about learning a technique, but about entering into a relationship with matter, with time, and with one’s own vision.
